Room at the Inn

Glendale Presbyterian Church is very fortunate to have been a part of The Room at the Inn network of supporting churches for over 20 years. Room at the Inn is a temporary, emergency shelter for homeless women and families, regardless of the age or gender of the children.

On the second Friday of each month, GPC hosts a community of guests, who happen to be homeless, in our church. Room at the Inn provides space during the day for support, and every night volunteers drive the clients to a host church, synagogue, or temple to be fed and given a place to rest for the night. They are then driven by volunteers back to Room at the Inn's day site the next morning.

In 2014, GPC began a partnership with Holy Redeemer Catholic Church to expand the volunteer base to provide enough volunteers for this program. These volunteers provide transportation to and from the day site, prepare and serve an evening meal, and bring breakfast for the guests in the morning. The volunteers also do laundry and serve as Innkeepers for the night.

Room at the Inn is a wonderful program that does a great service for the St. Louis area, and GPC is proud to be a key supporter.  For more information about Room at the Inn, visit www.roomstl.org.  If you would like to volunteer, contact the church office.
